Maybe someday...

A test blog
I am basically completely new to blogging. I am not even sure if I have my own "domain" or website. Maybe someday I will make money from blogging (Lord knows I need it) and I will look back and say "Man I was such a noob". Doubt it, but one can dream.

A Plea for Deftones 'Koi No Yokan'
For millions of people, enjoying great music is a seemingly simple yet insanely satisfying experience. Music speaks to just about anyone and it has the power to affect deeply. Music is like a drug. The emotion conveyed can manifest inside of a person and take them to the highest highs, the lowest lows and everywhere in between. It can become almost like an addiction. With addiction comes cravings and subsequent withdrawls. It might sound like a silly analogy, but if you are passionate about music then you know exactly what I mean. The words that are about to follow are sincere and true. I do not wish to sound pretentious or even 'whiny', though many will surely call me just that. I guess I would think the same as well if I did not know just how amazing
In my life, there has been one band that can put me in a trance and carry me into a dream-like state that can rival a hallucinogenic trip. That band is Sacraento's Deftones. The Deftones have been a big part of my life for 14 years now. Every album-practically every song even-is an experience of its own that I have had the pleasure of enjoying for many years. Enough pretense though, lets cut to the chase.
Koi No Yokan is scheduled for release in 7 days (overseas anyways). And while the wait of something special can be an exhilarating experience of its own, it has become a bit more than I can handle. I have trouble focusing at work because my mind is consistently stuck on this new album. The little time I do have off of work is spent trying to be normal. I have a wife and kids, and while we still do the normal family things, my mind is never truly into the moment at hand. I know this all sounds crazy. When I stop to think about how meaningless a CD really is in the grand scheme of it all, I feel a bit crazy myself. Unfortunately, I can not just "turn off" the excitement and "wait patiently". I need the drug that is Koi No Yokan.
I do NOT feel that I am entitled to a leak of the album. I fully understand the opinions of those who are adamantly against a leak. Personally though, I believe a leak this close to release could only help everyone involved. I believe the hype and the glowing positive sentiments that will undoubtedly storm the web could only improve sales. Most people that care enough to download an early leak likely have already/will buy the album. Maybe I am being naive, but maybe not. I have faith in true Deftones fans.
If you are reading this and you have the album, please throw it out there and share the wondrous beauty that has so far escaped us. My copy is bought and paid for already, I just can not wait any longer. It has been a great ride these past few weeks discussing Koi No Yokan's potential with friends and internet goers alike. I am grateful for the songs we have heard so far. Its truly some of the best work of Deftones illustrious career. Please....allow the rest of the world to be transported to a place of soothing sonic soundscapes. A place that is just as threatening as it is inviting. A place that can become anything you want it to be if you allow it. A place The Deftones have created. A place I want to be.
